Penelope Needing a Forever Home! | Round Rock, Texas

Be prepared to fall for the cutest little micro Staffordshire mixed pup ever!! Meagan is fostering this cutie, Penelope! When she messaged looking to have photos taken of Penelope to help showcase her personality and find her a forever home, I couldn’t have been more excited to be a part of helping. I mean, who could say no to that ADORABLE pink nose with that little black spot?!

I asked Meagan to explain Penelope’s story so that I could share it all with you here! :)

Penelope was on the San Antonio Shelter’s euthanasia list on July 12 and was pulled by San Antonio Pets Alive when we agreed to foster. We don’t know her story before then, except that she had only been at the shelter a couple of weeks.
She is a 4 year old 45 pound American Staffordshire mix. She is spayed, and also heart-worm positive but will undergo treatment this month.

Personality: she is a sweetheart. She wags her tail almost constantly and is happy to be loved on. We are still learning a lot about her. She has begun showing a fondness for toys (especially soft and squeaky ones) and is often just carrying one around. She’s played tug-o-war a little and still seems to be learning what play looks like. She loves soft dog beds and will get on the couch to snuggle with you. She’s a fairly calm dog but will happily trot next to you on a walk or run around exploring the back yard. She’s friendly with all people and gets along with other dogs. She is still learning about cats — she is very curious, and will follow the cat and try to get too close, but she is not aggressive.

Her name at the shelter was Piggy — and she does snort (when eating, or smelling around or looking for a toy). Training: she will cry a little when crated, but settles down and crates well. She hasn’t made it far on official commands, but she’s housebroken, understands “no”, and walks well on a leash.

When we first started the session, as soon as we got Penelope to sit down, a set of fireworks went off – Penelope’s ears perked up and that was her only reaction. She is so calm and doesn’t negatively react to anything. People ran passed as we were taking her photos and she wagged her tail and perked up her ears. She’s happy to just relax, or be beside you and enjoy any petting she can get.

Penelope is sweet, calm, loving and will make such a great addition to someone’s family! I don’t know who wouldn’t melt over her beautiful eyes, or her adorable ears! I truly hope that she finds her forever home soon. She has lots of love to give, and just wants to have someone to give love to.
